Spalding Flower Parade
The Spalding Flower Parade and Flower Festival is held every year in early May when thousands of tourists congregate on the small market town of Spalding, Lincolnshire to watch the famous tulip parade.
Millions of surplus tulip heads from acres of fields are crafted into decorated floats and paraded through the town.
The Parade follows a four mile route around the market town of Spalding, and as well as the floats it includes marching bands in colourful costumes, a Carnival Finale and a number of speciality acts.
In addition to the flower parade there are plenty of other things happening in the town all weekend, including Gardeners Market, Maypole Dancing, Street art and entertainment, Spalding town markets.
Top Carnival Band Contest. Display of marching bands on Sunday only.
Trade stands and a giant craft and gift fair all weekend.
Helicopter rides.
Plus Springfields Gardens to wander and admire. Open all weekend.
Many local churches also hold flower festivals during the hectic weekend.
The 50th Spalding Flower Parade on May 3rd 2008 will be a reminiscence of the early years, with flower floats designed to recreate some of the popular and memorable floats which helped to make The Parade famous world wide.
The Spalding Flower Parade & Carnival Trust, which will be organising the Parade, looks forward to welcoming thousands of Parade watchers over the weekend to help make the 50th Birthday celebrations a really memorable occasion.
